History
Bazis IG officially opened for business in 2005, first occupying a modest room in the tallest business office building of Yekaterinburg – ANTEY. The first clients were the ones who shaped our company and defined our bold goal – to overcome the geographic limits and conduct research that brings value to professionals from very different backgrounds – ones from a 100-year old global corporation and others from a 1-year-old Russian
construction plant start up.
This is the city view from our very first office building:

2006 was the year of hard work and fast growth. We moved to a much bigger office located right next door to The Urals State University. Sociology and Political Science Department faculty and students were helping a lot in providing practical assistance and academic guidance. All our analysts received formal training in multivariate analysis, conjoint analysis and discreet choice modeling.
Commissioning of a syndicated project by a Russian telecom giant in the second half of the year served as an indication of a new quality step that Bazis IG had achieved. A 5000-respondent sample covering 12 regions of Russia followed by over 20 focus groups for one of the top 3 Russian telecoms proved to be a challenging task that put us on a new competitive level.
A new focus group facility and comfortable observation room, both equipped with web-streaming capabilities, became the best offering in this class of services in the capital of Urals.
In 2007 we’ve tripled in size – there are now 15 full-time project managers, administrators, field specialists working at Bazis IG. This year we’ve joined The Research Alliance (www.research-alliance.com) – a well-established partnership of independent research organizations across the globe. Constant exchange of projects, regular meetings associated with a topic of particular interest (such as Healthcare and Qualitative techniques) makes membership in the Alliance truly invaluable.

One of the most exciting projects in 2008 was a study covering 12 countries in CIS, Asia and Middle East. Bazis IG analysts traveled the world to oversee focus groups, conduct interviews and visit respondents at their job-sites. We had to overcome stone-falls in Artvin (border of Turkey and Georgia), visit underground sites in Johannesburg (South Africa), try horse meat in Karaganda (Kazakhstan), escape from construction mafia in Dnepropetrovsk (Ukraine). The most valuable asset that we gained was reliable partners and true friends in many parts of the world. Bazis IG takes an active role in global research community events. Michael Ziskelevich and Tatiana Barakshina are ESOMAR members since 2006, and actively participate in Annual Congresses and regional Conference meetings (such as Consumer Insights in Dubai, February 2009 and Automotive in Lausanne, March 2008). Ekaterina Perina represented Bazis IG in Top Marketing conference in Moscow in 2007 and in the annual AMA Conference in Los Angeles in 2008.
Fluent spoken and written English skills are among the must-haves of Bazis IG full team. To master this skill, Elena Urgina – Head of in-country research – and Michael Ziskelevich – General Director of Bazis IG – completed monthly English training camps in Berkley, CA, USA and Atlanta, GE, USA.
Another achievement in 2008 was opening of a field office in Moscow. This office with a full-time field staff coordinating the projects helps Bazis to combine cost advantage of regional headquarters with full geographical coverage.
Our Moscow facility is equipped with ActiveGroup web-streaming capabilities, particularly suited for focus groups and in-depth interviews with healthcare professionals.
In 2009, Bazis IG became a second Russian member of Business Information Group (BIG, www.big-research.com). Tatiana Barakshina started work as ESOMAR Council Member for 2009-2010.
In 2010 Bazis IG won first prize at BIG Award in the meeting Business Information Group research association. First prize is awarded to the best research presentation with the most significant methodological input or fresh research idea. Research agencies from Denmark, UK, Italy, Germany, Ireland received this prestigious BIG Award consecutively from 2004 to 2009.
Currently Bazis IG works with clients and research organizations from many countries: USA, France, Denmark, Turkey, Switzerland, Poland, South Korea, China, Ukraine and many more.
We are looking forward to adding new exciting events and interesting achievements to our company’s assets!
