Automotive
According to WCIOM survey, 39% of Russian families own a car. Some of these have more one car. So 37% respondents have foreign brand of cars. Now there is such a big demand for cars, that representatives of the overseas car producers are shocked.
Market in Russia
According to experts, Russian market size of cars will be about 1,44 million cars in 2009 (decrease 55% instead of 2008). It’s about $25 billion. Sales of foreign cars passed $4.4 billion. Far East and Siberia are the most “automobilizated” regions in Russia. So every second family in Far East region owns a car. Higher access of new and second-hand cars from Japan is the reason of it.

According to RBC-rating

Russian brands of cars
Main cars produced companies in Russia:
-
AutoVaz - LADA
-
GAZ
-
UAZ
-
IGAuto

TaGAZ
Foreign brands of cars
But the foreign brands of cars are the most popular in Russia. So in 2008 Russian drivers purchased over 202,000 new foreign brands of cars and only 73,000 new domestic cars. Sales volume was increase on 26% in 2008. The most popular foreign brands of cars in Russia are Chevrolet, Hyundai and Toyota.
According to RBC-rating
In 2008 the fastest rise of sales volume had Honda (+131%) and Opel (+49%).
So the main trend in automotive industry is take-up in foreign brands of cars. Economic is growing, level of life is rising and domestic brands of cars don’t satisfy demands of Russian customers. And customers choose the foreign brands more frequent. So the producers have to know preferences of customers.
Car clinic research
Growing market and ever increasing demand for new cars and new models provide a great potential. In order to use this potential among the fierce competition that currently exists in the market, it is important to know the opinion of potential users before the launching the car into mass production. “Car Clinics” research helps to obtain that opinion regarding the car interior and exterior prior the official launch of the model.
Bazis IG experience with car clinics lies mostly on heavy equipment side. That is the reason why we share with you this interesting research experience. Bazis IG has professional staff with more than 3 years of experience in conducting wide-scale heavy equipment clinics (operator studies) in the USA and in Europe for a major equipment manufacturer. These studies involve equipment rental, daily focus-groups, interio design evaluations and visibility tests. There were the studies involving machine testing (cab feature testing, performance testing, visibility, look and feel).
We are very familiar with all logistical and research aspect of organizing a clinic study.
